ABOUT ME
Geoffrey Schön Theatre Maker | Director | Performer
I create Depth Immersion Theatre (DIT)—transformative experiences where audiences step physically into living myths and archetypal stories. My work dissolves the boundaries between performance and installation, inviting spectators to explore freely through worlds where psychological landscapes become tactile realities.
My journey began in the underground theatre scene of St. Louis, where I discovered that the most vital performance happens outside traditional venues and hierarchies. This led me to pursue an MFA in European Devised Performance Practice, training in Berlin with Frantic Assembly, Tectonic Theater Project, and the traditions of Jacques Lecoq. It was there, encountering Punchdrunk's The Burnt City in London, that I glimpsed theatre's radical potential: not just to tell stories, but to let audiences physically inhabit them.
My work explores the intersection of the cosmic and the intimate, often through the lens of historical moments when paradigms shatter. I'm drawn to characters who exist at the margins—queer, neurodivergent, heretical—whose personal revolutions ignite larger transformations. My aesthetic combines the sensory richness of installation art with the embodied storytelling of physical theatre, creating experiences that feel simultaneously ancient and urgent.
As an AuDHD artist, I bring a unique perspective to immersive design, crafting worlds that reward different ways of experiencing and processing reality. I believe theatre's future lies not in competing with screens, but in offering what no other medium can: the chance to walk through dreams made manifest.
Currently developing new DIT works that continue to push the boundaries of what theatre can be and who it can reach.
